BOMBED OUR SCHOOL

(STEVEN MURRAY 1979)

NOW THAT YOU'RE A SOLDIER AND YOUR'E DOING IT FOR REAL,

DO YOU STILL REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE THIRTEEN,

WE USED TO PLAY WITH TOY GUNS, POINTING THEM AT EACH OTHERS HEAD,

YOU'D PULL THE TRIGGER, AND I WOULD PLAY DEAD.

BUT WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANT,

AND WE DIDN'T CARE ANYWAY,

WE WERE ONLY MAKING A PLOT OF HOW TO DESTROY THE PLACE WE HATE.

NOW WE USED TO PLAY TOGETHER OVER ON THE CROFT,

SMASHING BOTTLES AND LETTING FIREWORKS OFF,

WE WERE ALWAYS SCHEMING, BUT WE WERE ONLY DREAMING,

I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D DO IT, BUT THEN AGAIN, I KNEW IT.

CHORUS

I AM NEVER GOING TO FORGET, ALL THE THINGS WE USED TO DO,

THE DAY YOU PHONED UP OUR HEADMASTER ,

TOLD HIM THERE WAS A BOMB IN THE SCHOOL,

FOLLOWING WEEK IT'S IN THE LOCAL PAPERS,

HEY BOY WE MADE FRONT PAGE NEWS,

THE DAY WE BOMBED OUR SCHOOL.

I LOOKED AT MY WATCH, IT SAID ONE MINUTE TO TWO,

AND I KNEW IN A MINUTE ALL HELL WAS GOING TO BREAK LOSE,

FIRE BELLS WERE RINGING, A GIRL STARTED SCREAMING,

THE CARETAKER BURST IN THE CLASSROOM,

YOU'D BETTER GET OUT THERE'S A BOMB IN THE SCHOOL.

CHORUS

GUITAR BREAK
